'Twas the night before the Election at the People’s House; They were eating cats in Springfield, (which delighted every mouse);

Defeating what he called "a violent mob;" the incumbent declared: "Let's Finish the Job!"

This mecca for migration, so many feel is wrong; Their foreign-born population is 50 million strong;

Secure the Southern Border! So many on the run; Eight million people crossed the line since 2021.

From whence on the Ellipse a rally arose; Or siege, as it were, was coming to blows;

From President’s Park they flew like a flash: Breaching the Capitol, revising the Stacks:

Of Hamilton, Madison, even John Jay; Certifying the election was underway;

And what to their wonder was the final blow? The inauguration of Sleepy Joe!

More rapid than eagles his policies came; Halting, stammering, he called them by name:

“On Covid! Recover! American Rescue!” The national debt went through the roof;

Thirty-five trillion at last Roll Call; Spend away! Spend away! Spend away all!

And inflation, almighty, how it grew: Groceries, Housing, (and gouging too);

And then, in a twinkling, they heard on the roof; A Pretender in heels slipping the noose;

With a name, for some, that was hard to pronounce; A Pinch Hitter pounced with an impressive bounce;

To lead the free world, a modest premise; Could she walk back the wars, or climate crisis?

With a bundle of platitudes flung o're her back; Specifics were vague but quickly unpacked;

Her eyes how they twinkled! How she spoke with clarity. Her Black/Asian heritage showed solidarity;

In the city and birthplace of Brotherly Love; A debate ensued, push came to shove;

That first and only time they met; He accused the network of rigging the set;

For fact-checking him but never her; Was ABC News a Silencer?

Still rich and eccentric, his suits were bespoke; Still playing his squeezebox as he spoke;

Crossing her fingers while kissing the ring she said with a wink, “Now I am speaking!"

“I'm not Joe Biden. I am not Donald Trump.” Barack and Beyoncé were on the stump;

And just as her party was starting to crow; Giving a nod up the polls he rose;

But polls are deceiving and battlegrounds fickle; They swing back and forth like a hammer and sickle;

With allegiance to person, party or cause; Sometimes beyond the rule of law;

"When We Fight We Win" or "Make America Great Again;" Refer in theory to — Us vs. Them;

A Republic, tho, like church and steeple; Was fashioned by and "For the People;"

To gather, debate, and govern, too; When the People VOTE a democracy rules.
